If you're new to osteopathy then you're sure to have some questions about what to expect
On your first visit
What next
If you're a first-time client at The Tides Osteopathic Clinic, you'll need to give us some information about your background, medical history and the nature of your condition. This is so that we can provide the best possible care, tailored to your specific circumstances.
During examination and treatment, we may require you to partially undress in order for us to properly assess and effectively manage the problem area but we are sensitive to any concerns that you may have and at all times we will respect patient modesty.
A bit of paperwork
We'll have some brief paperwork for you to fill in on your first visit. This paperwork provides us with general information about you and your condition.
Consultation
During your first consultation with the Ostepath, you'll discuss any health-related issues and concerns. You'll also learn about potential treatment options.
History and examination
In order to pinpoint your problem, the Osteopath will ask you a number of questions related to your condition. A variety of targeted tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.
Same-day treatment
Once the examination is complete, patients will generally have their first treatment during this same visit. This may include a variety of of techniques aimed at restoring the body to a state of optimum performance.
Home instructions
Before leaving, you'll be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be carried out at home. This may include ice or heat applications, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises.
We see you as a partner in your healthcare and throughout all stages of the process we will explain all our findings and discuss treatment options so that we can agree on the most appropriate treatment plan for you.
